PT Angkasa Pura I Sentani Airport in Jayapura Regency, Papua through the Idul Fitri 1444 Hijriah Air Transport Post has served 4,732 Lebaran homecoming passengers or a decrease of 19 percent. "If we compare it with last year, namely 5,881 passengers, it means that there will be a decrease in the number of travelers in 2023 which amounted to 4,732 passengers or a decrease of 19 percent," said Surya Eka

According to Surya, cumulative data from the Idul Fitri Air Transport Post in the period April 14-18 2023 at Sentani Airport served 21,518 passengers, down 16.8 percent compared to last year's 25,876.

"Seeing the number of homecoming traffic that has decreased this year, of course it will also affect flights, currently we have served 573 flights or a decrease of 21 percent," he said.

He explained that his party saw the decline in passenger traffic at Sentani Airport as being caused by several possibilities, such as reduced public demand for airplanes.

"It could also be because ticket prices are quite high from Jayapura to outside Papua such as Makassar, Jakarta, Sumatra and several other big cities in Indonesia," he said again.

He added that other factors could also be due to direct flight routes without transit such as to Surabaya which are no longer operating.
