To test the performance and abilities of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) personnel, especially when there is an incident at the airport. To test this ability, Sentani Jayapura International Airport held an ARFF Challenge activity.

ARFF Challenge is an annual activity. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this activity was canceled and was only carried out again this year. The ARFF Challenge is not only an event to find champions, but also to evaluate the alertness of officers in the field. said Surya Eka Sentani Airport Stakeholder Relations

There are four challenges given to each team. Starting from holding a hose weighing 15 kilograms, running competitions around the ARFF building, tire obstacles, wearing PPE, and extinguishing fires using cloth. This is so that ARFF personnel must be able to translate each Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for each action when carrying out aircraft accident relief operations.

This activity was carried out to test the dexterity, skills and stamina of airport firefighters who must always be ready and ready to handle crises that occur in the Sentani Airport area.

The hope is that with this training the soft skills and hard skills of ARFF personnel will increase. So Sentani International Airport not only has complete firefighting facilities but also reliable personnel to provide the best service, added Surya
